Christmas Moon

The 1st shot was taken while it was still daylight hours.
The next was an hour later and I hope that I killed the bright spots as was mentioned in my other post on this subject.
I listened to what was said and I am now hoping that this is more like it.
Either way I is a field I am not use to doing but got sort of happy when things began to fall ito place, well I think they did.

What sort of post processing did you apply?

Both do not appear as crisp as they could be, even a full moon can be sharp, in focus, crisp.

Also, I see some Coma in both images, you should be able to reduce that in PP as well.

To make them crisper as mentioned I would have had to make them much brighter and I was told last effort that they were too bright.
The moon edge is what it came out as from the camera. I never touched up any line on the shot at all.
I know I have got a way to go with this side of the hobby but my heart really isn't that far into it as there are many others out there who I know can and will always do a better job that I can. And I rather look at there shot more that me mucking about with them.
The coma thing is yet another thing I have got no idea what that even means.

I use the photoshop raw thing on these if this helps you.
So it all comes down to where I think it might be looking like it is over done.
And I do know we all have our own idea's on how much is enough or not enough.
And I appreciate your comments not that I understand them all.

I think that your images are pretty good, actually. If you had been at this for a long time, then maybe they would not be something that you would aspire to, but the way that you describe yourself in the hobby, they are pretty danged good!
I know that when I first started out shooting the moon I had a lot of problems, I did for a while too, but the more I became interested I got better.

Really you have enough image information that someone that knew Photoshop could make them look really nice, and to be honest, the majority of the images that you see that are very well done have had a considerable amount of 'stuff' done to them, there is always the exception though, but not often.

So you can understand what was meant about the "coma", look at the link below, you will see several images on Google Image that show exactly what that means. It also goes by the name of "lens aberration" too.

Keep at it, you are really doing very well even if you aren't all that interested in this stuff right now.

Yer I took a photo of the Blood moon with my 300mm lens and got what you have to say a full on deleted folder out of it.
I then have not even looked at taking a shot of the moon.
Someone said that I should have a go at it while it was a half moon and did.
Got fair comments that it was way too bright on the brighter side of it and it was.
So then I got told that Christmas was going to be a full moon.
So over I think the 3 weeks till Christmas I went out one night of those weeks making 3 days to get the photo's of the moon.
I am unsure if I will try to get better at them but I did find it interesting.
And we should try a few things that place us out of our comfort position.
Which will mean I will have to do a few more portrait shot as I hate that section.
