Out of the blue today my a6000 stopped recognizing the kit lens (16-50). I tried taking it on and off with the battery in and out and all the combinations of camera off/on I could think of. No dice. The camera boots up fine with both the 35mm and 55-210 on. I don't baby my gear but neither the camera or lens have ever been dropped or suffered any serious damage.

I did however notice this line on the electronic connectors on the lens. Anyone else see this on any of their sony e mount lenses. All of my lenses show it on some level but the kit lens is the most severe (presumably due to it seeing the most use).

I'm out of warranty at this point and I'm worried there is an issue with the connectors on the body that's causing damage to the lenses.

Thoughts??

So I took it down to a camera shop. Did some testing with other bodies and lenses. Thankfully it seems to only be my lens (a cheap one) that is the issue. Also we noticed similar markings on the electronic connectors on many of the lenses in the shop so it's not any issue particular to my setup. It was relieving to know this wasn't an issue with my body.

All in all not worst case scenario. But I do know I'm not the first one to have this happen to the PZ 16-50. Far warning to others, it seems to be a known issue. Repair is $150 so not worth it for a lens you can buy used for the same amount.
