Every week we select a new theme, and then go out and shoot that theme. This weeks the theme is New. As always be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme, creativity is what we're looking for.

Show us New... HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Here are the rules:
1. Shots need to be taken between Monday Sunset and the following Monday by Sunset (Whenever that is for you ). Because this activity is supposed to encourage us to get out and shoot, please don't post old shots from your archives. Snapshots and art are equally welcome -- just get out & shoot, and then share!
2. Post your shots at any time during the week.
3. Post a maximum of two shots if you're uploading them to POTN (i.e., attaching them). You can post more than two if you're linking to shots that are not hosted by POTN (i.e. embedding them), but keep within POTN rules. Also keep within POTN rules about size. A copy of the size rules can be found here: IMAGE POSTING RULES
That's it! Have fun! As always be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme, creativity is what we're looking for.
An index to previous weeks can be found here: POTN WORLDWIDE PHOTO WEEK INDEX

That's it!
Have fun!

I added a new exercise to my plantar-fasciitis regimen. This one came from the Web; there are videos of it.

You scatter 20 marbles on the floor, with a cup nearby.

Then you use the first two toes of the affected foot to move the marbles, one by one, into the cup.

Very nice shots Pete and OhLook.

That is pretty cool OhLook....would not work very well here, our friend Flash thinks
that anything that rolls on the floor belongs to him.
How is your foot doing?

Could you please demonstrate further with a photo of your foot picking up said marbles? :p

Seriously, does it help?

That's an interesting exercise, Oh. A friend at work used to use a tennis ball and roll his foot on it when he sat at his desk during the day.

Hey, Pete, do those go with the new guitar??

Here are a few I shot today while playing with a new lens. I got the Rokinon 14mm f2.8 primarily for nighttime shots, but I figured I'd take it out to a local park today and check it out. The manual focus can be a bit tricky with my eyes these days. That focusing ring has a nice wide range too.

Playing around with good ol' Silver Efex Pro too. Really love that software!! First two are 3 shot merged HDR in LR then over to SFX Pro for conversion.

Boy, I also found out how bad my sensor dust bunnies are after the Death Valley trip. No more shooting for me until I clean that thing!

I may be fascinated with volcanoes, but the name's Lisa.

Thanks. The degree of pain fluctuates all day; worst on waking up and variable after that. This condition is quite limiting. Long walks are out, so I don't get enough exercise.

Aren't you sorry you asked?

Seriously, does it help?

It's hard to tell. I do several exercises. Some of them achieve partial relief immediately. Maybe the others promote long-term healing, I don't know.

I roll a food can instead of a ball. That one does make my foot feel better. Those are really nice landscapes you posted. The new lens must be a good one! ;-)a

I saw the alphabet exercise recommended but am not sure it applies specifically to what I have. Do you notice definite benefits from it?

Nope, not sorry I asked. :-D

I had the same problem a few years back and I stood on an incline (toes up) board in the mornings. The best thing though was a velcro "boot" that pulled the front of my feet up while I was sleeping. My problem went away after a few months of wearing that "boot" every night.

well, mine is for my spine and general numbness in the leg and nearly total numbness in my foot, so it makes things keep moving. Makes me think about foot-eye coordination. :p
It is helpful. So is Tai Chi..
All exercise is good ..

I use a bottle and I think it's what helps me the most. I also often exercise my feet before getting up in the morning. You know, wiggling them, making circles etc. and imagine that helps too. But I mainly have pain in the morning, after a night's sleep and no problems during the day.

You don't need to focus this thing at all, Lisa. Just find where the infinity is (it's usually a bit off with this lens), keep it there and everything from 1 meter to infinity will be in focus. It's close-ups that are a bit trickier as then you will have to use your eyes and actually focus yourself. Looks like you have a good copy, shots look very good.

Thanks for the tips, Levina. I was trying some closeup shots yesterday too but didn't post them here. I really was surprised as to how wide that focusing ring range seemed to be.
I noticed when adding the EXIF info for the photos on POTN, they didn't have Rokinon listed, but I think it and the Samyang are supposedly interchangeable. Do you have or have you used the 24mm 1.4? A lot of folks really like that one.

The lens is known as Samyang, Rokinon and a few more that I can't think of right now, but it's all the same lens. By the way, there's a filter holder for this lens now. Here's a link to the UK site: http://www.samyang-lens.co.uk …sfh-14-filter-holder.html (external link)
They had a promotion a year or so ago where you could get it for free, so I got me one. I think it was just for Europeans though, not sure. Worth checking maybe?

I don't have the 24mm as it's a length I have little use for. I am thinking of getting their 35/1.4 though. I love that length for street shots and if it's as good as my 14mm then it's a steal. Especially compared to Canon's 35/1.4L II.
