Compare the skin tones in the first three. Which one looks "right" to you?

I'll eliminate #2 as its WB is obviously not "correct"

as for photos #1 and #3, #1 skin tones look "right" to me. Then again I'm looking at them on my work monitor which is at least 5 years old and never been calibrated. I will look at them on my calibrated IPS monitor at home tonight. But on this monitor #1 looks more right.

I was looking at white on pillow left edge and teeth of girl in black top. I might not have a good eye for this...it looks like exposure was increased.

Obviously this is just a small sample but you seem to be caught up in the horizontal frame for an individual portrait trend. It's fine for a shot or two but honestly its overdone. Honestly you aren't that far off. Just stop using auto WB, start framing portraits as portraits and simplify your backgrounds.

This is why I love this place... Thank you all for you input. I am learning so much... INCLUDING being more consistent !!
