Not the cleanest image, but given that I took the shot over my head with a 200mm lens--I'll take it!

The Steady Shot benefits are real!

Man that's awesome! Love the DOF and bokeh, fantastic colors too.
We are still waiting for the first flower to show...more snow tomorrow night, but
we are seeing bugs flying around so that is a positive.
That Minolta has the classic color of all great Minolta glass.

It is crazy to me that I can just walk into my backyard and shoot something like that growing off one of my trees--very humbling!

There's a woodpecker I keep just missing, gonna try to get some images of him soon!

Getting pumped for the Iceland trip yet? I'm excited to see what you bring back. Good luck with the FE16-35, you'll rock it.

I'm really warming up to the Minolta glass, kinda want another one. But I hate to be greedy (no I don't!)

Love it!

Your work is slowly talking me into adding one of those big ol' Tammy zooms to the arsenal.

Mickey I bet you remember that at one time I had the EOS mount Tam 150-600 and the Sony kit is just way better.
I have no explanation but you also probably remember that I don't have a mind for the technical aspects of photography.
Living where you do with so much glorious Sun I'd def. add one.
The diminutive Leica 100-400mm came this weekend for my Lumix and that has consumed me of late.

I don't have an explanation, either, other than I really feel the A77ii gives me superior results to the Canon crops I have used. Is it the sensor? Color accuracy? Metering? Ability to peel back shadows like nobody's business? I'm not sure, as I'm not particularly technical either.

To be honest, I can't tell the difference between your Sony and Canon shots most of the time--which is a huge tribute to how far Sony has come as much as it is a tribute to how good your shots are. Also, that DXO software is a great equalizing tool you've utilized to make the Sony a real beast at ISO 6400 (and above?).

I do believe I saw some fantastic shots you posted with that new Leica on flickr, and those shots are crackin'!

There have been a few cardinals through here recently that I need to shoot, not sure when they are migrating north. As you know, the variety of birds is just crazy--cranes, herons, egrets and the rest. I may need to sell off some stuff (non-photography stuff) to justify that 150-600 the next time it dips below $700. What a killer bargain for the reach/quality ratio.

So, I just got a $140 credit from eBay.

The Minolta 2x APO teleconverter is $150 through a good seller. I'm really thinking about it! Turning my prime into a 400 5.6 without--potentially--losing a ton of IQ or AF at that price seems like a solid compromise.

Took a few in the park the other day, and I'm still loving the A77ii/200HS combo.

There are semi-feral peacocks in downtown Ft. Pierce, 25 minutes from my house. I had both kids in the car, so I had to shoot these from the driver's seat then crop. The neighborhood isn't in the worst part of Ft. Pierce, which is consistently in the top 100 most dangerous cities in America, but three blocks is close enough to stay in the car with two toddlers.

Hey, at least you're fantastic company! :)

These Robin and Cardinal shots of yours are killer (no matter which body/glass you use).

I'm shooting an event this week, gonna try to work the A77ii in there for a few podium shots. Got a big airshow coming to town in June, so I'll probably have to spring for that 2x teleconverter by then.

The blue jays and cardinals should be long gone by then, of course. They come by my back yard just long enough to taunt me until I'm able to grab the A77ii and then they either leave or go deep into a tree 75' away.

Haha I know about being taunted. Let me tell you my latest plan/scheme.
We have a 'bird studio' out back...lots of props feeders all easily interchangeable/moveable.
I'm going to bring in a dead tree, something the woodpeckers can drill into and make a house :)
all with the goal of a Red-headed woodpecker! We'll see how this works out...will be next year
before success can be had-just planning on the future.

I'm at the point now having played with the a6300 I can compare at least globally in my mind
the AF of each. the a77ii wins and overall the a77ii body/ergonomics/joystick/etc. are better for
BIF (and I'd bet for sports in your world). But the a6300's sensor wins over the a77ii's. I'm already
pushing ISO 4000 and haven't yet needed to invoke DXO Prime for it, NIK does just fine--but that
was early morning shots and not darky shadow work. Putting the EOS stuff on the a6300 via Metabones
has been fun but no need to do it really and the a6300 feels cumbersome with big lenses whereas the
a77ii feels natural with the Tam 150-600.
Having said that I have to contradict myself and say that the a6300 is a BIF machine in it's own right..
in AF-C and Zone you cannot miss, of course the only missing is a native 400mm.

Still makes me wish the a77ii would be upgraded but my gut tells me that ain't going to happen.
