Wifey & both got off work early last Friday and decided to visit a park we have not previously been to. Shortly after we parked & got out of the car, we were greeted by this fella. Heck, he flew by my shoulder so close I could hear him fly past. PhilM

May 21, 2018 16:03 | #18918 So, I took wifey out to try out her new lens yesterday (thanks Bill!) and naturally we were met by heavy rains when we arrived at the wildlife refuge. Lol... After the front line of the storm passed, many of the birds came back out into view. Some were after food, others were ready to dry off. This was one of her first shots with the new (heavy) 500 - she was leaning out the window hand-holding it. I was proud of her. Sherman, TX. 5/20/2018 That's great Phil. Tell her not to make me want it back, LOL. Ordering the 100-400 tonight for the riii when the holiday ends for B&H folks. Bill being Smug

TRhoads Cream of the Crop More info | May 21, 2018 17:22 | #18923 Wile hiking out to Tomales Point in Point Reyes last week, there were a few birds that would sit for a portrait...this was one of my favorite, I had never seen a California Quail, this is a male. He was talking back and forth with his lady friend, but she was hiding more in the bushes...so no pics of her. 2x on the 70-200 GM and the a9. I have these around me but they are very skittish, the slightest movement and they take off, I like the sounds they make.

I will see one or two come out of the brush and if it is safe a line of 10 or 15 might follow. I like when you see a couple of adults walking with a line of their kids behind them flapping their wings to try and keep up.

May 21, 2018 21:35 | #18929 This past Saturday was the annual "Photography Day" at a local raptor recovery center (Blackland Prairie Raptor Center). They hold it to raise money and it a neat opportunity to get up close to some beautiful raptors. I'm just getting started looking at our pics from the morning.
