Fast and sharp like native? Nope, but they are getting closer. Here's one with the MC-11 and it just got better with the latest firmware update.
I don't hesitate to shoot BIF with the adapted (MC-11 or Metabones V) 400DOii. That said, it is way easier with the a9 than the A7Riii. Maybe you saw
this one with the A7Riii + 400DOii just to prove it works-

Hi. Not a bird ID expert myself, but the chicks were with dozens of adult Canada geese so I assumed that's what they were. They were quite big, too, and had been left to fend for themselves. Nothing much else around except a few gulls.

Very nice shots Terry, but those are not Canada goose chicks. I'm pretty sure they are young coots.

Yes, I'd agree with that.

Super nice BIF shot of the puffin. I really thank you for the above information. You most definitely cleared up my questions. I'm seriously looking at the a9, and I'd make the jump in a heart-beat, but I have so much Canon stuff to deal with. I love the "L" lenses that I currently have, and don't know whether to keep, or try to sell them. I'd surely take a beating money wise, if I sell them. :-(

I'm truly impressed with the images that you've been posting. They are a big incentive to make the move to Sony.

Terry...I miss ID stuff all the time, and hopefully get corrected for it. I'm certainly not an expert in bird ID, but I was a biology teacher, and went on many field trips with my kids, always having my bird book in hand. I learned a lot of them, however, there are soooo many that I miss ID or simply don't know.:-D

The birds you saw did not have webbed feet, but rather lobes of skin on their toes that facilitate their swimming. Also, they had more pointed beaks (bills) than Canada geese chicks do.

That is fantastic, Mike. I love the simplicity of the shot.

Amazing shot...I really like the low camera angle. It adds so much to the overall effect of the photo.
