Although the Yellowhammer is a RSPB Red listed bird in the UK, there has been an abundance of them in my area lately I'm pleased to say.

It really is a treat to see the beautiful Redstart around this time of the year which I look forward to. I Often find it difficult to capture there black eyes as they have such a black face. I have been lucky to of seen 17 different males and 4 females at 6 different locations in the past month. Real cracking birds!

You can not mistaken the metallic trill of increasing tempo of the Wood warbler, more easily heard than seen. Just hang around for 20 minutes or so and they eventually pop out and show themselves.

It's surprising what you may see in your local graveyard. I often walk around in the one nearest to me with a pair of binoculars, it happens to be unkept and overgrown and entices many birds. I noticed that 2 different Green Woodpecker's would visit the same 2 headstones every time I visited. Although feeling uneasy about walking into the graveyard with a big lens I was certain where to go to get the shots I wanted. Believe it or not I was in and out within 5 minutes and managed to get some great photos.

Northern Wheatear's like to go to the highest obstacle around.....they perch and just look around. In this particular location I went to there were 5 of them and they were taking turns in sitting on this dead branch. I knew sooner or latter more than 1 would be on it at the same time. I managed to get all 5 but all with there backs to me. I waited for an hour and eventually I settled for 3.

I soon got to know that these birds were feeding their young at an old unused airfield. I have been watching them over several days and I am pleased to say that all young have just fledged. I hope to get more photos of the young but the reeds are very dense. The 1st bird is a sedge warbler and the 2nd bird a reed warbler.

I thought I would trade in my old 1ds3 but I was offered 1/10 of what I payed for it so I have decided to keep it. I'm glad I did as it is still such a great camera and will start using it more often.
