Heck of a nice shot of the jay.

I honestly think you just were unlucky with that particular camera...plus the fact that nothing today is built like in years past. My 7DII took a dump a year ago and I sent it in for repair. The bill was almost $700. I was really upset about that because it was just barely out of warranty. Any camera I buy in the future, I'm going to pay for the 4 year insurance policy that's now offered. I really like the 7DII, but I'm always thinking something is going to break down on it.

I had a top wheel on this camera and a back wheel on my original 7DII. If I had all the warranty money I’ve spent in the past I could buy a 1DxII right now. Lol
There is no winning Mike.
Imagine a camera really made for wildlife built tough and water tight. It would never be black... I mean even my underwear is camo lol. It needs the extra pixels so we can crop the hell out of the images because their not going to give us the 300-600mm anytime soon. It needs to Af like the 1DxII because Sony will very soon. It needs to use two card that are the same SD cards of the future and stop worrying about yesterday.
Just my two cents of course.

Surely you never took that in Australia
Eh what. Now come on. We do have some nice birds. :p

Haha! Yep, more than a few! But here I was wondering the same as Rawshorty.

Kev, your tags for this pic suggest you took this shot in Queensland, is this correct?

If it is you should put a submission to BARC as this would be a very, very, very rare sighting, most likely the first.

Lovely colours and detail in this shot. There's even a hint of 3D.

Thanks Jack. I thought I noticed a hint of 3D as well. Can’t imagine what I did in post to get that effect. ;-)a

Nice ones Wallace, haven't seen any of them since May. They look a bit darker this time of year.

Jeff, I think you honestly hit the nail on the head with your above comments. I agree with you completely. I anxiously await the announcement of 7D III. I know it won't have everything we want, but I hope it's auto-focus is improved (like the 1DX II), less noise at higher ISO's, and built to last (like a brick outhouse). Many of the features in that camera are already good, and I want to keep them.

I would really love to see Canon come out with a mirror-less camera like Sony's a9 (it's gotta be able to use the Canon lenses). Then I'd be able to keep all my Canon stuff, and just buy one camera. I don't see that happening any time soon.

Dang it Doc...the greenies pose so nice for you, but treat me like I have the avian death plague. Very nice job with that shot.
