Heck of a nice shot of the jay.
I honestly think you just were unlucky with that particular camera...plus the fact that nothing today is built like in years past. My 7DII took a dump a year ago and I sent it in for repair. The bill was almost $700. I was really upset about that because it was just barely out of warranty. Any camera I buy in the future, I'm going to pay for the 4 year insurance policy that's now offered. I really like the 7DII, but I'm always thinking something is going to break down on it.
I had a top wheel on this camera and a back wheel on my original 7DII. If I had all the warranty money I’ve spent in the past I could buy a 1DxII right now. Lol
There is no winning Mike.
Imagine a camera really made for wildlife built tough and water tight. It would never be black... I mean even my underwear is camo lol. It needs the extra pixels so we can crop the hell out of the images because their not going to give us the 300-600mm anytime soon. It needs to Af like the 1DxII because Sony will very soon. It needs to use two card that are the same SD cards of the future and stop worrying about yesterday.
Just my two cents of course.

But here I was wondering the same as Rawshorty.
