They are really wary birds and can be frustrating. This shot was one I got last year. I noticed a pair of kingfishers flying around where I keep my boat. I observed them for a few weeks and noticed (like most birds) that they are habitual and were landing on the same perches. So I set up a blind near one of those perches and waited.
