So awesome, thanks for sharing your setup! How long did you have to wait for one to land? Did you have to get in place before dawn?

No, time is no issue started at 07:00 am. until 09:00 am. most kingfishers are curious so mostly i give a little turn on the branch, but the most important thing is to check if the branch
has been pooped upon so you know they use the branch. Of course i wait for the better light conditions in the morning (sunrise) and Sunset. Kingfishers don't like much wind the water
must be preferably clear and calm and not deep with lot's of small fish.

Amazing shot Rob. I saw them up at the cabin this weekend; all I could do was look having my hands full with a well. Really admire
the perch and pose on this one.

Had a week to plan ahead put in the branches and watched for patterns of behavior and flight lines.
to give you a glimpse, learned that if you have the sun in your back they are virtually blind, the sound of the 1DX hammering down did not bother them at all.

Really awesome detail on these. I'm wishing Sigma (or Tamron) will put out an e-mount version for us older photographers.
