I thinks thats why we have that saying 'What an ugly coot' in deference to a human.

Something inside me say - Cute, but .. Ugly.

We have Bald Coots here and they are beautiful birds. Even the chicks.

A very nice photo though all the same.

All the tricolor heron chicks are fledging and some are still pestering their parents for food...

Thanks. They are really cute when fledglings like that. I feel sorry for the adults though... the chicks are relentless in their attacks on their parents wanting food...
