Jeff that is a beautiful photo, and I'm not sure if it's deliberately chosen, but it fits your shared sentiments.
It's almost as though it's listening to your comments all the while with an enquiring look that says 'hey you camera makers, are you listening?"

Much of today is redundant before dawn, more by noon and much more by sunset.
The clamour for new is relentless.
With so much driven by the chip these days it's hard for them to keep pace.

If film wasn't so extraordinary expensive I'd still be there, with my trusty Zeiss and add-ons.

I think the trouble is there's not one Canon camera built for guys like us. The 1DxII guys will tell you they use the 7DII for wildlife because of the crop... The 5D4 guys will tell you they need more speed and the loss of reach is a problem.

I think they need something new.. Something more to the wildlife shooter of today. Something not quite as big as the 1DxII.. like trimmed down just a bit.. Something with an all new AF that covers the entire field of view. Fast 14 / 16 frames a second. Two cards exactly the same type and speed.. and a sensor that is large enough... just large enough to give us the look of the full sensor but still give us a crop factor that gives us back some of the reach we all crave.

There is no camera that fits the feather and fur shooter to a T. We are evolving with expectations that are limitless. We want to do video in 4K or better maybe 5 or 8 is more reasonable.

How many times have you heard the guys here say the 1DxII was to much for them to carry... just to heavy.... many times. compounded by the need for a 600mm or 800mm to make the reach difference. Most of the guys and gals here that shoot feather really well are using the 600mm and up. try and carry that into the bush.. It doesn't carry very well. I have help many a photog move the massive hulk miles into the wilds.

That camera will sell like hot cakes right now. There are more people with money running all over the globe being guided to the critters we all love to shoot and they would all put a real wildlife camera in their bag... maybe two.

I think the jump to mirrorless is coming for the big manufactures.... So if they dont give it to us now it will be in the form of a sony like product down the road. It is all about money and the phone has taken the lion share of the snapper market leaving all the manufactures with a feeling of scaling back the DSLR lineup.

We live in crazy times.. big company's we thought would never disappear... gone for ever.. We may never see the camera of tomorrow.. and we are confused by the camera of today.
