Oh, ok... they sound like our Gray Jays (or, should I say, Canada Jays :-)).

Wow, that's a lot of driving. -? Is he having any luck seeing any birds/wildlife? :-)

Not a ton of luck no. I would say their not as friendly as the grey Jay but they will let you within shooting distance. well... here anyway.

Its a great name for them but I don't think its official. but who knows I could be wrong tomorrow!! I wish I had a colony on my doorstep but I do not. Thinking of starting my own.

Well, if you start a colony of your own, let me know! I've only ever seen/photographed one! :p

I hope your friend starts having better luck here! Cape St. Mary's and Elliston would be guarantees. :-)

I will pass that on to him. I have a few colony’s fairly close. For the last 5 or 6 years they have been a garranty to see. But one never knows. They have 5 or so chicks and the strongest two push the others out of the territory and the usually die being on their own. So I’m sure they would not miss a few in other colony’s lol

That's a beautiful bird. Different to our Plovers.
Looks bit slimmer & longer legged.
Interesting name for it.
