As much I want it a natural perch, I could not resist to take a picture of this beautiful Common Belted Kingfisher.

Oh my goodness. This has to be the best belted kingfisher shot I've seen. Wonderful image, Peter. By the way, I'm really jealous.

Sure is a lovely bird.
I guess it's all natural to them. They don't see what the concern is.
Hadn't really thought much about that, but now I do I'm realise I'm the same.

Well, they all look darned good to me. If anything, the x2 performed better than the x1.4. What did you use for noise processing?

Not brilliant as the sun had gone down (too slow a shutter speed) but I grabbed the camera quick and banged off a few shots hoping for the best as I was just happy to see my new bird bath being christened :-)

Kevin, I have to say I am particularly partial to the second to last one :-)

This is such a pretty and unique looking bird. Nice shot, Pax.

What a beauty Pax...definitely unique looking. Very nice shot.

Thank you! I think unique is an excellent term to describe them

avondale87 wrote in post #18713090 (external link)
You have a lovely collection. They are different altogether to any here (Tasmania).
Love the colours and their natural surrounds.

Ah, but you have those lovely Rosellas, Cockatoos, Galahs.... I do miss Tasmania

Jack Dawe wrote in post #18713172 (external link)
Well done for even seeing that bird, let alone getting such a good shot of it! :-)

I think it was more of a case of good luck, but we all get a bit of luck every now and again

They breed here Doc.. both are here all year except the coldest months. I was shooting the eagle and a cloud of warblers flew in around me.. you could waste an entire camera shooting the black and white.
