Rose-breasted Grosbeak, passing through my area it seems. I thought he was a plump sparrow at first, until I saw the larger beak and splash of red on his chest.

The standard of photography in this thread is remarkable. Obviously, photographing birds is very popular, but it's clear that quite a few POTN members are right up there in terms of skill.

I reckon there are sufficient truly excellent images in this one thread to put together a top-shelf bird book, the equal of any I have read over the years.
