Well done, Greg!

I was in the same boat too, thought all sparrows were the same, common bird, but eventually discovered they’re a quite varied species. Not as numerous as Warblers, but there’s a good number of cool looking Sparrows.. in particular I hope to someday see a Fox Sparrow.

It is now, Shooz ‘ol buddy :)

Nice Matt, I like the composition and sharpness of this shot.

Despite Matts assertion that they are invasive pests and rubbish birds, they are in decline here, 65% decrease in numbers since 1969. Rarley saw them where I used to live but thankfully they seem plentiful here and they had a good breeding year. And because it is sparrow day.......

Here is a Sparrow that I tend to overlook when out shooting. They actually are very striking birds.

These are all beautiful photos of Sparrows.
Lovely colours and their markings are beautiful.
Glad to know they come in various forms.
Thanks for chipping in and posting

LINCOLN'S SPARROW

I also enjoy sparrows. The Katy Prairie will soon be alive with them, this winter.

This is one of my favorites, from Quintana, April, 2010, with my old 50D and my beloved 400DOi.

Out of respect for "Sparrow Day" which I will put on my calendar, here's my contribution.
