Thank you all! I think it was just the fact that day was cloudy so the light was diffused and complimented the scene. There is minimal processing, just some sharpening and a slight toning down of the highlights. I only have DPP and my processing is limited so this is almost SOOC.

Remarkable!

Nice sparrow shots Shalu. I'm glad you joined the celebration. In fact I think I'm going to have a bit of scotch to celebrate.

Thank you very much, Mike! Now I am looking forward to celebrating another bird species.

Shalu; you certainly have an incredible skill for photographing birds catching, carrying or eating their food. I'm am jealous, but I know you put in the time, and go to great lengths to get your shots. I've never seen a coot eat clams before, but with their huge gizzard, I can understand how they can digest them, shell and all.
Great shot, by the way!!

Thank you for the kind words, Mike! The spot I usually shoot at, it not only has a lot of fish from pumped in water, but apparently also grows a lot of clams. I have seen coots, gulls and ducks all going after the clams near the water edges. I also often see gulls bullying the coots into giving up the clams. This picture is a by product of me waiting for birds to catch fish.

Shalu I can only echo Mike's comments. Might sound a bit Lame , but these are seriously good shots of a different perspective on bird life.
Light, life and action are three lovely attributes of your photography.

As for this Coot, I find that very interesting. Never experience such in life.
The dark colours are often somberously merged. Black birds on dark backgrounds don't make easy capture, from my experience.
But not this one.
The water lights up, the leg and reflections are highlights. Beautiful and informative.

Great shot, Rich. They're tough when they are coming right at you. Nicely done.

Yesterday a couple of Bluebirds showed up eating the berries on the Pokeweed in our yard. This is my favorite song bird in the Northeast. This the first time photographing them this year. There was some light drizzle at the time.
