Yesterday a couple of Bluebirds showed up eating the berries on the Pokeweed in our yard. This is my favorite song bird in the Northeast. This the first time photographing them this year. There was some light drizzle at the time.

Gorgeous, Rob.

These large birds - larger than ravens or currawongs - winter in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea and then come down Eastern Australia to lay eggs in other birds nests before returning North. Normally only coming down through Queensland and into New South Wales, this one has been coming to the outer east of Melbourne for the past few year, the most southerly aspect of its range. Not the best shot as it remained high in the foliage, but happy to get a few record shots as I dipped out in the last two years. ![]() That is a cool looking bird.
