lol to funny Melissa, yesterday there was a bunch of different stuff, The grosbeaks stayed for most of the day. As you can see my little hairy dude didnt now what to do with all those intruders on his private feeder lol. :p

I always like this time of year for the northern birds. Makes for an interesting time shooting birds.

Now you're just teasing me. :p

I can't have a feeder up due to the possibility of frounce in the province. Not until the frost starts anyway. It's nice to see others enjoying them. :-)

Outstanding!!! This portrait is so nice to look at, all of the texture and color, not to mention the eye contact. Feast for the eyes!

Matt it doesn't hurt me :)
The 400DOii a couple of weeks ago gave me a nasty crick in the neck :(

Ouch.. sorry to hear -? It's a blessing that great gear is getting lighter and lighter. Everyone loves the neat techie advances, but most often they overlook weight savings and the kind of enjoyment it can bring to any activity, not just photography. Backpacking is a big one.. 1lb on your feet is 10lb in your pack. Best change I made was going from hiking boots to light weight trail shoes.

Excellent shots, Matt.

Thanks, Mike. Glad to see you still active on here, buddy :)

Lunch!! cracking shot MedicineMan, I'm surprised that the spear on the dorsal fin doesn't pierce it's stomach.

I counted 17 Grey Herons today all lined up on a channel bank and all waiting for their lunch. It's the most I have ever seen in one place. They were watching a digger on the other side of the bank dredging. On the Somerset levels the reason for the dredging is to widen the channels so the water flows easier and more efficiently as the levels are prone to flooding. The digging brings up eels and frogs and other amphibians that the herons like to eat.

I took this photo at f/16 to get a very deep depth of field hoping that the eyes of the 3 birds in front would all be in focus.

Starlings look black at a distance but when seen closer they are very glossy with a sheen of purples and greens. To me they are a very beautiful bird

Good shot. love these birds, have up to 40 in the garden, they clear out my fat filled logs and balls in around 10 mins.
