Having seen shots of your Gold/Fire Crests, they surely have to be related, there's no other explanation. Maybe someone had them as pets back in the day, and they escaped to become a local fixture here. Similar to the Starlings and House Sparrows, but better :)

Will, great capture, RBWP are a tough customer to nail down. Your shot is sizzling with sharpness too, wow.

Possibly Matthew, unless it's a doppelganger lol, ours are not afraid of humans and so can get quite close to them.

I did. He was hiding in a bunch of weeds & didn't want to bother him. It was one of those deals where ya had to wait for the wind to blow the grass just enough to briefly open a line of sight.

I did see a couple nice shots of him out in the open, but I only went once. I was really surprised by how small it was.

I'm glad that you got to at least try. I read the same, that the wind had to blow 'just right' so you could get a shot. :)
I thought that they were large like a Great Horned Owl, or at least a Barred Owl.

Good luck if you go back.

I know you're not really supposed to watch (or photograph) a bath, but....

(Looking at it now, it reminds me of Terrell Owens doing a touchdown celebration - Lol!)
