Great shot, but, Dave : as I understand it, Gannets nest on cliff ledges, so did you risk life and limb by hanging off the edge or what? :p

Nice one, Sibil, but you've got a dead pixel there, I think, or Mars is showing well in the daytime!

interesting. the rain didnt help for sure shooting at ISO 2000 and a slow shutter(160th/sec). i couldnt put the extender on if i wanted , which i would have loved to do to get closer.(there's a fence keeping me moving in).

are you using a 7D2?

If your exif is anything to go by we had the same or less light last Sunday, in the middle of the day 1/250, f 5.6, iso 2000 and purposely underexposed by 1-2 stops(luckily the 5DIV files accept that) to keep the iso low enough/shutter high enough. Didn't dare to put the 1.4EX on.

that's what i said. lol

lol your just not living dangerously enough lol... we are getting snow conditions everyday whether its snowing or not.. a little sun would be nice.

This was shot with the 1.4III and 100-400LII ... I'm still getting use to the rock and roll... I think there are a bunch of camera's that do very well with shooting low and pushing up. The 7DII is a master at it.. I have shot almost everything in snow conditions just like that..

I'd love a bit of snow, here it's just low clouds, very dull and drab.

Another great shot. Rob you must have muscles like Popeye to hold that set up.

Thank you. I am just use to lifting things that are heavy for my day job. I am a Mason Contractor. So it makes the lenses not so bad.

Dang it. I hadn't noticed that. Is there a remedy for a dead pixel?

Welcome back and that is a beauty.
Lovely photo of one of iconic and very colourful (in many ways) clowns of the bird population.
