I was not particularly impressed with the new Canon EOS R for wildlife but you can't fault the image quality. This Eagle was perched on a branch close to me for hours and was not at all bothered by me being there.

The biggest downside to using this camera on this trip was me!! It was new to me and although I thought I had the hang of it when it came to using it in anger I was too slow to change settings so I quickly switched back to my trusty 1DX mk2.
Having said that it is no match for the 1DX mk 2 when it comes to frame rate and tracking of the subject but at around 1/3 of the price you would not expect it to be. I am sure that when I am used to the camera it will be fine, for now it is a good back up. I also shoot landscapes and this will become my primary camera for that, I like the articulating screen and the live histogram in the viewfinder.
