Thank you Robert and Medroller, got lucky with this particular bird, first time I saw Scrub jay was 4 years ago. I was delighted to see it yesterday after a month of being busy remodelling our kitchen finally got time to go out again.

Thanks to all the likes too everyone. I appreciate it. And with my excitement I realized My camera was in jpeg setting. I forgot to double check my setting in the parking lot lol.

Seriously though, I've noticed on some of the latest bodies at the house that jpg engine has come a long long way. For me, current thought is if the lighting is really sketchy (meaning I'll have to put on a magician's hat in post) then raw...if light is good (not where I live) then jpg often will do just fine.
Thoughts?

The condo complex I live in has the parking lot lined with Cape Honeysuckle and it attracts a large number of Hummingbirds., There are two that seem to enforce a large portion of the hedge, chasing off any others looking for a taste. This one shoots around the hedge and hides in a little hollow until the enforcers move on. I watched this happen a number of times. Caught her while she was waiting. Cloudy day with a diffused Zoom-Lion flash @ full power.

When I first started in the digital world, I always shot JPEG... My pics were used in print and digital magazines and I never gave it a second thought. On one assignment the light was so bad but I figured I could save it in post... I couldn't and it was a lost cause. At that point the editor told me, "Just to be safe, always shoot large JPEG AND raw, you can toss what you don't use". That was 10 years ago and I still do it today. I have forgotten to switch raw back on a couple of times, but thankfully on nothing important.

I have not shot jpeg in years,... Only Raw for this kid.

Absolutely!

They are the coolest little bird ever MedicineMan, The other day i'm seeing them all flitting around the feeder which tells me the seed is all gone that I put out and hour ago, so I walk out with the bucket of black oil seed and hold my hand to the sky and they all take turns taking the seed from my hand including the hut hatch's, well little did I know the family down the way are out for a walk and there all lined up in my driveway watching in amazement as all these little guys are flying around me without a care in the world.. lol.. Honestly I kinda felt a little ridiculous grinning from ear to ear :-} ...but hey life is short

Really?!?!?! I'd kill to have that happen! lolol

I'm going to video it if I can. They seem to not like the camera up close. Got to get a gopro..

We hand fed them on Amherst Island last winter, awesome experience....not happening here though.
Now let me tell ya about hand feeding a hawk-just teasing
