Just an awesome series.

Thank you, Robert!

I'll say the Thief, with its big blue eye.

I'm going to say that the thief emerged the victor. I'm not sure about the one trait, but to me the thief has a darker neck, and somewhat bluer eyes, maybe.

OhLook wrote in post #18802194 (external link)
The thief seems to be a bigger bird overall, too.

I agree with both of you, OhLook and Mike! I mainly go by eye color here. The Hunter has pale, dull eyes, while the Thief has brighter, saturated eyes.

Now, can the Thief swallow the fish?

The Katy Prairie is full of migrating raptors right now, mostly Red-tailed Hawks. This specimen landed in my oak tree, for just a few seconds. I know this is not a wall hanger portrait, but have a look at the points on those talons. Wow. Overcast, very slightly cropped.

Excellent shot, Robert. Very sharp, and a unique bird pose.

This is what I'd call an exciting action photo. I Love all the splashing water. It certainly is a well executed shot, Shalu. Oh yeah, he get that fish down with ease.

Sure. The Thief has a thick neck, thicker than the Hunter's neck, and I just bet it's hollow.
