American goldfinches are getting darker and showing some black on the head. Unfortunately here in Texas, I won't see them in breeding plumage.

Thank you very much, Mike!

Good call.

Birds always adjust the fish orientation so that the fish head is facing its throat before it swallows the fish. It is getting there:

Common trait I can see is only one has the fish :p
You've connected these together well whilst tormenting the bystanders.
Lovely photo again.
A highly entertaining sequence.

Oh. I'm way behind. Comment re sequence stands and extends to the latest.

Brilliant shots Shalu, kept us in suspenders throughout the saga.

Another superb shot, Shalu. What a great series this is. That trout will most certainly be joining the cormorant for supper.

A little siskin recovering rom a nasty shock after hitting one of our big windows. It decided to stay with me for about 20 minutes and climbed from my hand to me sleeve and then up for a real cuddle.

After a good rest it flew off to, I hope, a good long life?

Aw. Poor fellow. I hope he recovered fully.

By the way, it's definitely not a Siskin. It's a male Serin. Did this happen in Wiltshire? If so your county bird recorder would be really interested to see the pics and learn when and where this happened because Serin is quite a rare bird in the UK.
