Found this beauty upstate NY just posing in a tree, a few shooters came out talking the opportunity to get some wonderful shots. We'd found that he was injured, we called it in but not sure if they ever located him. He was missing talons on his claw.

i shot this guy during my visit to the mouth of one of local rivers this morning. can someone help me with the ID? a small bird, i'd say half the size of a Mallard. (i'm in Vancouver, British Columbia)

edit: my Merlin app says female Bufflehead?
