Thanks Mike. It certainly is a strange looking bird. I looked this one up and found that it a juvenile female Anhinga. I think the adults are pretty much entirely a dark color.

Just after I shot this Stellar's Jay we saw it trying to bury the peanut. It flew off and this California Scrub-jay immediately flew in and started looking (unsuccesfully) for it. Both are very common here but rarely give me such nice poses.
