Don't get me wrong, Harry...I love this new camera, but I'm having a bit of a dilemma. The 7DII is the one camera that I keep going back to for a couple of reasons. First of all, it has most of the features I get on the 1DXII, plus that 1.6 crop factor is a big deal to me. I can use my Canon 100-400 II on it, and have an equivalent magnification of 640 mm...still shooting at an aperature of f/5.6. I cannot do this with my 1DXII, using a 1.4 TC. With the new camera, I have to shoot with the 400mm DOII (plus the 1.4 TC) in order to still keep my f/5.6 aperture. It's a heavy rig for me, especially on longer walks. In my own case, I feel that I get better sharpness with the 100-400 than I do with the 400 DO. This may sound stupid, but I see it again and again. I realize that most folks here are fine with using the 100-400 at f/8, but for me shooting BIF so much, I hate dealing with the added noise due to having to shoot at higher ISO's. I do loose some image quality.

I have an old Canon 400 mm f/5.6 lens (non IS) that is actually quite a decent lens. If I put this on my 1DXII, and shoot mostly BIF with it, I'm able to do OK. I personally like to shoot BIF with a 400mm lens...easier to find my target. I still have to definitely put in more time with the new camera in order to get the most out of it.

I completely understand, if I end up buying one I'll be hanging on to my 7D2 also.
Harry
