Thank you very much Shalu.
Wonderful shot, Shalu. From the looks of your photo, this GBH appears to be getting ready to enjoy a fish salad. :p

Thanks, Rob. Finally, I found a bird that you don't get in your neighborhood.:-P LOL I consider myself lucky, because they are the most common peckerwoods in my area.

Just wondering - do they make holes in wooden houses?

Yes they do, Archi. You rarely find them in city neighborhoods, but in foothill like habitat, where they inhabit, these birds cause big headaches to people with wooden buildings.

We have downies in my city neighborhood, just one pair at a time as far as I can tell. I saw a male today near the suet feeder. Sometimes they visit the loquat tree, but utility poles get most of the hammering. Our house is wood and hasn't been attacked. Maybe the paint discourages the peckers.

EDIT: Changed "downys" to "downies." Neither looks right! Pluralization of "-y" words differs when the word is a name, and "downy" is part of the bird's name.

PRONOUN ADVISORY: OhLook is a she. | A FEW CORRECT SPELLINGS: lens, aperture, amateur, hobbyist, per se, raccoon, whoa, more so (2 wds.), shoo-in | IMAGE EDITING OK
