Yeah those things are the worst. I had a run in with them in Alaska, and Colorado.....and Illinois.....they are terrible.

Caught this Hen Pheasant in the heather at the back end of summer. She kept me occupied while waiting for some squirrels to show.

The ones in Michigan were a little larger than that. If I picked the wrong time of year, the bottom of my canoe would be covered with hundreds of dead ones after a short trip.

Yeah they pretty much go after anything thats on your body. eyes, ears, nose, mouth, skin.
