Great shot, Paul, and he even has nice shiny bands on his right leg.

Needle point sharp and nicely composed, Sid.

Very nice sharp close-up shot, Sid. Definitely humerus.

Thank you Mike, I think our jays have that funny sort of look even when they're being serious!

well, i'm going to take a break for a while. good weather means the sun is too harsh so early in the morning it doesnt leave much time to get out there.

I have the 150-600mm G2 Tamron and the issues they were having with autofocus and the like have been corrected in the 2nd generation model. I would recommend borrowing or renting the lens first before buying as it is quite large and each photographer has their own "tolerance level" for what they are willing to lug around out in the field. When you try it out keep in mind most long zoom lens experience a bit of softness at the extreme range of their zoom so you might want to back this lens down to 550-500mm for the sharpest results (although I get perfectly acceptable results at 600mm). Also, I found that although the lens was quite good out of the box, it was even better after I fine-tuned the autofocus. Google "dot-tuning" for a video of a simple method to get the best focus from your lenses. Finally, if you are likely to be "staking out" a location for any length of time a gimbal mount makes the use of this lens a piece of cake, making it virtually weightless. I have attached a shot of my rig set up for throwing some fill flash at shore birds and eagles in flight. Good luck!
