Great catch. It looks like a Photoshop joke! I've seen them do this, half their body disappears and becomes neck :-)

Peregrine falcon. Just typing those two words makes me happy.

Smashing shot, Shalu...quite humerus. This heron has obviously been using a neck stretcher. They'll do that so they can reach out further in the water for fish. :p

Thank you very much, Mike and Dave! There is another green heron outside of the frame, that's who this one was talking to

This is a very attractive shot, Shalu. The bird is tack sharp, fluffy, and the lichens on the tree branch add beautiful color... as does the colorful, blurry branch in the background.

Thank you very much for the nice comments, Mike! It was very low light, and I had to use a tripod for the slow shutter. It was quite different from my normal way of shooting :p

Red-billed hornbill. I just love these birds. This one was eating leftovers from a picnic in the Kruger National Park.

Thanks very much Mike. I'm quite sore today after lugging a lot of gear to see the Peregrine(s) yesterday. Saying it was worth it is an understatement!

Superb Fairy Wren ~ female
This was quite amusing. 100 metres away the Magpies suddenly chimed up in their melodious way and I saw this little beauty burst into song. Not sure what it was all about as the Magpies would snack on these

Your magpie is really a pretty bird. That's an excellent shot, Sid!!

They are indeed and they are very difficult to get close to, this one was there for just long enough to get a few in focus shots. Thanks for the nice comments Mike. :)
