Not sure if this qualifies as portrait but it is probably my favorite among all my bird photos.

She's doing her professional modeling pose. :p This gal is definitely a sweetheart. :-) Great shot, Richard.

Thanks Mike & Shalu, comments much valued.
Their modelling is first rate for sure.

We all have our special birds and they get to be seen on this forum.
It would be nice to have a greater selection of different ones.

Great shot, Shalu. Nice low angle, and I like the way the background fades out like a morning fog.

A Cooper's hawk landed in the yard yesterday morning. I used the 1dx Mark II with the 400mm f2.8 Mk III. I used it at 400mm, 800mm and for the first time with video I stacked 1.4x and 2x extenders for 1120mm. I worked fairly well, lost a little detail but still very usable. Below is the video link to Vimeo or YouTube.

Awesome bird.
Love the photos and the video.
Very well done.
That really shows what magnificent raptors these are.

Phainopepla. These birds are unbelievably skittish. The only reason I got this shot is because she didn't see me until it was too late.

These guys pop up in all kinds of places. This one was working a mullein flower stalk.
