nice cutout, but there's too much noise in the picture. That can't be your ISO, so you probably have cropped way too far.

I agree about the noise but I like the close up. Application of some noise reduction software can clean this up pretty nicely without much trouble.

Mike I do not believe you will either, not due to you at all. The newer lenses with the 2x seem to work so much better. I think if canon comes out with a new 500mm, you would see a big difference with the 2x extender.

:-):-) You definitely made me feel better, Rob. I look at Shalu's work, and I'm really blown away by the sharpness he consistently gets with his big lenses plus the 2X converter. Not only that, but the stacking of converters doesn't seem to hurt his image quality at all.

Really shows off the leg length vs their body size, nice

Thanks Rob. I agree. It's always seemed to me that with legs that long, walking would be awkward (sort of like a person on stilts), but that certainly is not the case.

I love this shot, Paul...you caught him in mid stride. I do however, have to disagree with your call concerning the name of this bird. I believe that it is a green heron. Keep in mind that my signature says, "often mistaken, but never in doubt."
