Great northern divers can be found around coasts where it is usually solitary, often farther out to sea than other divers. Occasionally seen inland on reservoirs where I saw this one. Sadly this comes at a Risk.

Dreaded Fishing Line. This beautiful bird which is a rare Winter Visitor to the UK has fishing line tangled around his Bill, Neck and throat. As I walked around the Reservoir to get the best light I was picking up Fishing line continuously. One piece being at least 10 metres in length tangled. This can only be disastrous for birds. Just a few Fisherman spoil it for the many.

Also some of the fisherman were not too pleased I was at the same location as them. What a superb looking bird, sadly I cannot see that this will have a happy ending as it was struggling to open his mouth fully.
