That's what I like about this fourm. I would have never seen one of these and many other birds without it! Great shot Bill, thanks for posting the photo.

Nice shot, and unique.

Can you increase the sugar concentration without harming the bird? A higher sugar concentration depresses the freezing point.

Thank you :-)
I did up the sugar content to about 1/3, but it still froze. The cold snap only lasted s few days so no biggie. Strangely enough this is not my first hummingbird in the snow. I had one show up in October and stay through late February. For that one I used a red flood light positioned about a foot from the feeder, it kept it warm enough to stay thawed even through a few single digit nights.

1/60th. Nice work!

Everyone else take note: You don't need excessively high ISO speeds.

Black-capped Chickadee...

Turned off all the streaming "entertainment" and "news" and it's much more enjoyable and entertaining being outside, in the backyard, safe at home.

This Blue-winged Mountain Tanager, (Anisognathus somptuosus) was shot with my Canon 100mm 2.8 L macro after breaking my 400mm 2.8. When your big lens breaks get closer with a smaller lens. Easy solution.

Sorry to hear your big glass breaking, I could only sit and cry. On the other hand, a 100 2.8 and catching a beautiful bird as this is! Congrats and good luck, hope you get her fixed.
