Very nice! I always find the darkest birds so tough to keep dark but show detail.

Me envious, haven't seen one here since last year. Post more! and
see if you can find the Rose breasted one.

Well their hard to come by around here too MedicineMan.. lol The Rose Breasted will not be back here till spring. They nest here and raise there young and gone for the fall and winter months. I know I miss them too, there a much more calm and open to the human style of bird. The ones I had last year I'm sure were all born and raised here so there willing to fly in and have a go at the feeder while your sitting 6 feet away enjoying the evening dinner with the family. I enjoy them a ton. Hands down the best time of year for shooting birds in my part of the world. All the right colours and enough light to run the camera as it should be.

O and one more thing ... I shot this through the glass doors to the deck while sitting at my iMac reading your post... Life it rough up here in the great white north. What I won't do is tell you there are 4 four Deer 10 feet to the right of the feeders .... O darn ...

My first and only Yellow-bellied Sapsucker (I think, best I can tell using the books).
This little guy was found in a swamp area near Fort Meyers, the Six Mile Cypress Slough
and Preserve. He played cat-n-mouse with us for 30 minutes in deep cover, finally giving
me a semi-decent shot.

Hi Geoff,
Do you own the 1st-2nd version of the 100-400?

Have you tried stopping down to f7.1. I used to own the 1st (Stolen) and it made all the difference. Just a suggestion.

You probably know your lens well, but just a suggestion.
