Lame-Duck I have indeed had pine nuts More info | Jun 26, 2020 14:15 | #62675 Sibil wrote in post #19083909 Hi Mike. I have not done a similar test. My standard go to setup for bird photography is Canon 80D, 100-400 II, and 1.4x III. I have not noticed sharpness decrease with that setup. Then again, I am not too critical about sharpness, and when out in the field, I am more preoccupied with finding birds, getting a focus lock, and firing a few shots. Almost all my bird posting are with that setup. You be the judge if I have a sharpness issue with the setup. On the other hand, on a rare occasion that I use my 1DIII, the only difference I noticed is the speed of focus lock. 1DIII does a much better job at that. Hi Sibil...Thanks so much for your response. I appreciate hearing your results. I've decided re-micro-adjust my lens/camera combinations and then check out the sharpness both with and without using a 1.4 TC. I'm especially interested in how my 7DII plus my 100-400 Canon lens will perform. LD, or Mike

If you haven't and can, you should really look into it. I own but no longer am able to use it shooting Sony. It improved my output from my Canon equipment tremendously. Unfortunately, it is tied to me and can't be transferred to another owner. Bill being Smug

Whichever method you use, it is worth while doing a series of test shots of a finely detailed subject at a range of MFA settings. I do that from time to time, and it is remarkable how little difference 5 points makes. But there is a difference, and a series of tests like this confirms that the process produced the right setting. Canon R5 and R7, assorted Canon lenses, Sony RX100, Pentax Spotmatic F

kd_reno Goldmember More info | Jun 26, 2020 16:36 | #62684 Today I went looking for a Black-and-white Warbler that was reported in Carson City - very rare vagrant in northern Nevada. Found it, but was having little luck getting a shot as it was very actively moving around in dense foliage. Then it dropped down to do a little sunbathing. Apparently this causes parasites to relocate to more accessible spots when the bird preens.
