Found this bird outside my house yesterday. First for me. Hope to be seeing more variety of birds as they migrate in for the season.

Thanks, Neal, I look forward to really putting the R5 to serious shooting sessions. It's such a different camera from my 5D IV in so many ways it's going to take awhile to get to know fully and to get the most out of it. Just before receiving the camera, my backyard, where I shot about 95% of all bird photos this summer, had about 2 dozen birds feeding from 10 feeders. Strangely, as soon as I received the camera, they were all gone. I was also glued to my TV to follow the election. So, instead of shooting, I spent all that time learning and programming the camera while watching TV. Birds still haven't come back except for some doves and few others yesterday, so a quick test shots before they all flew away again. Now that the election is over, I'm planning on getting out of the house to spend some time with the camera. It's definitely something to get used to coming from a DSLR. I wished it was built (and button layouts) like 5D IV. It felt more like an electronic toy. Even the scroll button felt cheap compared to 5D IV. Battery was draining like crazy. But its new AF system is just so far superior to the 5D IV that it's going to allow me to do things that I wasn't able to with the 5D IV.

Thank you SYS.
I think the cheap feel you talk about could possibly be weight saving design. I see this a lot in my profession comparing older airplanes to new weight and fuel saving designs like the the Boeing 787. Its got a cheap plasticky feel. In fact the 787 has been nicknamed by us as Plastic Pig.
Maybe the birds all were also following the election results on bird tv
When I got the Sony watching some YouTube videos helped to learn settings. Still learning and a long way to go yet. ;-)a

As I get older, less weight is increasingly an important factor, so I'm not too disappointed with the plasticky feeling I get with the R5. I might even eventually replace all of my current lenses with the RF lenses that are much lighter. There are several YouTube videos that were very helpful in customizing the camera to my shooting preferences. I still haven't read a single page of that thick user manual.

Mine the user manual is still in sealed plastic bag. :-D

Nicely photographed, Richard! I like the old rusted fence post it chose for a perch. And the background is so nice and buttery smooth.

This male Ring-necked Pheasant has ended up with a crossed beak somehow. Hasn't stopped him feeding apparently.

felt like winter this morning, ugh.

Beautiful raptor. Very nice indeed.
Looks like it's still got bits of its last catch in its talons.
