Well... this is my 1000th post! I went out with my camera this morning with the sole intention of finding a great picture to post for my 1000th post! Not very successfully unfortunately but I did manage to find this Blur Tit!:lol:

Up until March this year the only flying things I had photographed were aeroplanes! With the arrival of Lockdown here in the UK this website and all the stunning pictures posted here in the Birds Forum have completely transformed how and why I take photographs... and saved my sanity! So... thank you to all of you who post here and especially thank you to all who take the time to like and comment on the pictures. I, for one, really appreciate it!

Hi Mark...

Congratulations on your 1K posts, and looking forward to seeing your next thousand. With any luck and a lot of hard work by the healthcare community, we'll be seeing lockdowns in the rear view mirror this year. However given current problems, it's sure nice to be able to enjoy our winged friends and your Blue Tit photo is wonderful.

Tom

With the UK in lockdown again all I have access to is my local (urban) patch. Just been out for a quick walk and lots of Eurasian Goldfinch about up in the high branches.
Here's one checking out what that fool with the camera is doing.

Who tied a knot in that bird's neck?

Lol, yeah. I think he was getting ready to strike some prey.

Fantastic detailed and beautifully composed photo Mark.
Love the pose.
Somewhat different to Spitfires but your mastery of the camera seems to work on birds too :-)

Eastern Rosella from today. Also had to crop to 100% which is no problem with this new R5. Second shot was the out of camera "before" RAW. WHilst I always cropped hard on my 50MP 5DSR a 100% crop tended to need a lot more work to bring it under control. Especially in regard to ISO noise showing at a 100% crop. Even at lower 800 ISO I would have really struggled to get it looking ok . Canon have really got the better of this with this new sensor.

One thing I noticed (like) about the R5 is the files look good straight out the camera.
