My parents live in Sydney and there Indian mynahs have completely taken over their backyard. Australia's native versions (there are 4 species) are generally spelt 'miner' and although they look similar to mynahs they are not particularly closely related to them, being in different bird families.

We have miners here too, but they are only problematic on a Saturday night after payday:lol: Indian mynahs on the other hand are always
a problem and they are driving the local birds away from our gardens and parks

Advice, C&C welcome

Shot at the Muriwai Gannet Colony, just outside Auckland City.
The colouring of the gannets in this area is apparently enhanced by minerals leached into the food chain by erosive material from Mt Taranaki, a dormant volcano about 250km south of the colony on the coast. The beaches along this area are actually made from Titanomagnetite – s fairly soft compound made from a mixture of titanium and iron. Being black, the beaches can get very hot to walk on in the summer.
