We likely all prefer natural settings for birds but never having photographed a Peregrine Falcon, I dashed to an abandoned water Tower in Baltimore where a pair was nesting.

Lame-Duck wrote in post #19212271 Both are attractive birds...very nice captures, Richard! Many thanks Mike. I love their company steveb108 wrote in post #19212302 My goodness, Richard, Tasmania has such wonderful looking birds that you capture so well. Now I'm sorry I didn't make it down to Tasmania when I was over to Australia. It was either birds or Hugh Jackman, and the wife was with me, so the birds lost. Thanks Steve. Yes we have some beautiful birds, but then we all do. I ogle at some over your way. brian_sp wrote in post #19212353 Ruffed grouse Brian that grouse is magnificent.

steveb108 Goldmember More info | Thanks so much, Brian! I kind of rationalized too that Peregrines have often traded cliffs for skyscrapers, bridges, and transmission towers, so the water tower was representative of how they've adapted to man-made objects.

That dead tree obviously gets a fair bit of use. Assume birds hammer the holes in, not a 50mm canon ![]() Good to see these natural settings. Many thanks, Richard. This shot was taken along our San Joaquin river and there quite a few old dead trees to be found there. Our Acorn woodpeckers are responsible for most of the holes in the dead trees. Many birds use these holes as places to build their nests. LD, or Mike
