My first time to photograph Summer Tanagers. Got two different birds on the same day in Las Vegas last week.

This male American goldfinch showed up a couple of days ago. I caught the bright yellow out the corner of my eye. They left late as a group this year but now I get to see one in breeding plumage. Got the best shots yet yesterday. Unfortunately, he is missing his right eye.

He's a beauty. Great shot, Bill.

This is an attractive portrait shot of this gull, Richard. He stands out very nicely from the background.

What an alluring shot this is, fotoi! It has the beautiful colors, the great sharpness, and a delightful pose by the wigeon. Are you sure you didn't bribe him?:-P:lol:

This young Red-tailed Hawk spread its wings and, shortly after, pulled them in and dove to the ground (unsuccessful attempt).

I find this a very appealing shot, Steve! The lighting throughout the entire photo is really nice, plus the composition is excellent! This is one for the wall in my opinion.

Before the strike and after the Black-crowned Night Heron got slimed (but got its fish). Shot across a pond at distance, so much detail lost.

I looked at this two shot series and really had to laugh, Steve. It makes me think of a fisherman catching a huge fish and falling out of the boat with the fish still on the line...and finally landing it.
Really well done, Steve!

Thank you so much, Rich! You hit the nail on the head about timing. I took so many shots that ended up in the garbage can. It's really hard to get the parent (s) in the shot with the babies just right so that the overall picture looks nice. It seems like I was constantly cropping and throwing away photos. Yeah, the timing was good, but it was lucky good.
