Finally, something other than chickadees and woodpeckers to shoot

Normally I only see a few Dark Eyed Junco's on the ground but a whole flock passed through the other day.
Snowing off and on and overcast but...
Very nice don

saea501 ... spilled over a little on the panties More info | Apr 24, 2017 16:04 | #8318 edmidlifecrisis wrote in post #18336176 Here in FL spoonbills are an obsession with many photographers, including me!! Ever since I discovered they existed, which was only a few years ago. This year I haven;t seen too many locally, usually there are more by now. But in March I was at a spoonbill rookery with Medicineman and Archibald, I have been there before, and there were a bunch of them. Locally they have been a bust so far. I'm not seeing any to speak of either. Someone told me it was because we haven't had any rain.....which we surely have not. We're about 7 inches behind at this point. Remember what the DorMouse said.....feed your head.

The lakes and ponds are low but not dry. It rained ALL DAY yesterday so maybe..... Ed

The lakes and ponds are low but not dry. When I was in Florida last March, I saw what seemed to be a normal number of spoonbills. I saw them at the Orlando Wetlands, Circle B Bar, Viera, and in spades at the Stick Marsh. Birds move around. There used to be lots of spoonies at Merritt Island, but I have heard there are few there any more. It's similar with other species. The Anhinga Trail used to be fantastic, crowded with birds, alligators and big white lenses - but no more. But other locations are still good. I've asked and nobody has a good explanation for these changes. Canon R5 and R7, assorted Canon lenses, Sony RX100, Pentax Spotmatic F
