Super! Beautiful contrast here between the perfectly exposed bird and the dark background. I'd have preferred just a fraction less closely cropped, but that's just me.

Canon 7D2 · 16-35 f/4L IS · 17-55 f/2.8 IS · 18-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS STM · 50 f/1.8 · 100 f/2.8 Macro · 100-400L IS II
Picture editing is OK. CC always welcome.

Common Rock Thrush,

Not so common in the UK. This has to be the only one and the rarest bird at present. Seen at Pwll-du, Blorenge, Gwent, South Wales. I had to go and see this bird as it will most likely migrate soon. A lovely bird in such a wonderful location. Well worth the long hike. I am thrilled with the set of photo's I got this morning and am pleased to share with this forum.

That's stunning! I have seen quite a few photos of this bird (unsurprisingly), but this is by some margin the best. You're a lucky man to connect with such a rare bird. Way back in 2004 I saw a breeding plumage male on Dartmoor which was particularly stunning - but that was in my pre-photography days.

Thank you Kindly Jack, I was just lucky with the weather today with the sun directly behind me. I must of took 200+ photo's, I doubt very much if I ever see one in this country again. I spoke to a gentleman who travelled from Leeds, a 400+ mile round trip, he too said he was a lucky man.

Don't know if it's my best, but one of the best from this past week. Up close and personal with a 100mm macro on a 5DIII.
