How can you remove the mode dial selector cap on the 7D? While shooting at Watkins Glen International, I dripped some watermellon flavored slushy drink on it ant the on off button now changes the mode every time it's switched due to sickkyness. I just need to clean it out.

Thanks
Eric

Feel free to use any photo's that I post for any purpose that I don't find offensive. I'd be honored to find my pics used on that world wide web thingy....

There was a quite extensive video of a complete 7D dissassembly posted on here quite a while ago. Might find what you need there.

I think you are looking at a partial tear down, at least the rear and top panels to get to that dial.

Is that the 7D or the 7D2? If the 7D and just in case you decide or have to send it in for servicing get the locking mode dial retro. The part is cheap and you will be paying the same amount for labour.

If you trust the weather seal you could hold it at the appropriate angle and drip water on it letting the excess run off.

Use warmer water, I was going to suggest this too.
Or, take out the battery, manually hold the mode dial still, and flick the on off switch a bunch of time to free it up.
