Well Im still not and expert. I think there is a trick to it Im not getting yet. Ive been experimenting. The one above was birch that I found some where and wasnt crazy about the boring gain pattern but figured Id give it a try. I printed out the photos at staples with a printer that uses toner. I was told a long time ago that toner is the only printer type that transfers. For the one above I believe I just cleaned off the "as is" wood surface which I think works the best but not sure. Ive sanded some and lacquered some. Then I painted acrylic medium gel on the wood and stick the print to it. I get impatient but I think it is best to let it really really dry out. Some times I have put it next to a heater. After that comes pealing off the paper. I usually wet it and rub it off bit by bit... It takes a long time
If anyone else does this tell me about what Im doing wrong!
so you put a poly lacquer down first before applying the print?
i had seen a video a year or so ago but could never find it again…stopped trying when i was pushed to Pinterest and my head exploded. Seems like everyone uses the Mod Podge stuff but I think I would try puttting down a true wood finish.
These probably aren't worth watching unless you've never seen the process, nothing new really, toner is the winner.
that ^ linked me to the one i saw originally:
