So our plane to Paris, missed its connecting flight in Reykjavik, because of a delay. It was the airlines fault, so they comped our hotel, our meals, and our shuttle bus. The hotel they put us up in was the Hilton so they didn't cheap out either. I can't say enough good things about the staff at the hotel. I would definitely fly with Iceland-air again.

So a 1 hour layover, turned into 24 hours. The wife and I quickly made the decision to make the best of our time there. So we slept for 4 hours, then did a whirlwind tour of Reykjavik, which was awesome BTW. Then the weather forecast called for mostly clear skies, so we booked an Aurora tour, with a half hour to spare. Boy are we glad we did, it was breathtaking. I have not seen the northern lights from that far north before.

We did not expect to stay in Iceland, so we did not come prepared to go on a Aurora tour. Or else I would have brought a tripod, so I used my camera bag. No time to pre scope the location, and I had to use my nightvision to compose. So hopefully you guys like them.

Awesome. Now there's one flight cancellation I would have been happy to suffer. Glad you made good use of the time.

Wow, very nice. That's one flight delay you'll remember for a long time and for a good reason.

It's all in the details.

Serendipidy really paid off for you Trevor! Wonderful shots. The Aurora was visible here last night too......or would have been had it not not been totally clouded over.

I'd say you did very well on such short notice! I could sometimes see the Aurora when I was growing up in central NY, but now I live too far south. I miss them. Thank you for sharing these with us.
