Was watching this little buck this afternoon to see what he was up to. He was eyeballing this cedar tree pretty good. I was a little surprised when he started munching on a few branches. Was the first time I've seen one eating cedar. Guess they must like it.:-)

Nice shots Terry! I know here on the east coast the whitetails like the cedars. I have found a few sheds under them over the years.

Nice shots, well documented for a bet I would have lost. I have hundreds of Eastern Red Cedar on my farm and have never seen any thing eat them. Always thought before complete starvation that deer would perhaps feed on them. The deer here do love to rub their antlers on Cedar but that has been the only thing I've observed. A few birds feed on the berries but even most of those are still lying on the ground when spring arrives.

Thanks Steve. I have seen them eating ponderosa pine and fir, but this was the first time I have seen them eating cedar.
